Spanish VAT ID---correct, but system says it is wrong

Dingens Name: Rolf Wagels 28.03.2012 Posts: 727	Spanish VAT ID---correct, but system says it is wrong Hey I have a customer from Spain who entered his VAT ID and got an error message, see screenshot. According to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VAT_identification_number the number is correct. Any ideas? Thanks Rolf

Wonder what is wrong, because according to Wikipedia the format is correct: "For individual persons / freelancers, its either 'ES'+8 digits+letter (for Spaniards) or 'ES'+letter+7 digits+letter (for foreigners). e.g. ES99999999R" Thanks Rolf
