Individual text for order status: Emails always sent but not always to the customer

I have two issues with Individual text for order status:
1) When I change the status in the order list, and don't check the box to send this update to the customer, the customer sometimes still gets the update. Since I use the status also for internal issues like waiting list etc. this isn't helpful, also the check box should prevent this if not checked.
2) When I change the status to paid and want to inform the customer that the order is now paid, this email is sent to me instead of the customer.
This is a bug, I guess, but I have no idea how to fix it.

The addon does not send email.

Check again - the problem is not clear (sometimes)

Okay, I see that the plug in doesn’t send mails.
But why do I get the email when the status is changed to paid?
And how do customers get mails even if the checkbox in the product list isn’t checked?

Problem doesn't always appear, I can't find a constellation though.
Let's start with the "Oder status changed to paid" problem.
How did I get this email?

It has the email of the customer, but I still received the email?
Do I get a blind copy? Why not all the time?

After paid, cancel... (payment system) -> send email client and admin

Nothing was cancelled. Order always changed from „open“ to „paid“. Advanced payment chosen at Checkout, order is open. When I see the money in my account, I manually change to paid in the order list.
