Use product attribute image in checkout and order instead of parent image

For example, I have A4 coloured card for sale and there are 10 colours. The main picture shows all the colours but the attributes - used as options - have their own images with the individual colours.

At the moment, every selection shows the parent image (see first image)

It would make more sense that when someone selects an option that the product attribute image for that option is used instead of the the main image (see second image)

Is this possible? If so, where and how?
