General update question 4.16.2 and later

General update question 4.16.2 and later

i've just seen that 4.16.2 is available via joomla. What will happen , when I don't install it before 4.16.3 or .4 or .5 is available?

a) Will it still be a step by step upgrade like the last years only via joomla or
b) Will it be a "big update" if I waited too long in between like 4.16.1 => 4.16.5
